Copelands Press Release
Copelands auction a massive success!
Local auctioneer David Tate scaled new heights last week by selling 14 lots from 17 offered at his first twin centre sale in Chesterfield and Sheffield on consecutive nights. Now trading as Auction House and part of the UKs largest auction group, the joint catalogue was the largest ever prepared by the Copelands team. Both rooms were very well attended, there was spirited bidding and impressive results of 89% and 75% were delivered on the two nights.
There were highlights too and these showed the diverse range of property types that can sell well at auction and the real value of the competitive bidding process.
The three star performers at the sale on 30th April at Chesterfield Football Club were a large semi on Mill Crescent in Wingerworth that sold at over double its Guide making £70,750 (GP £35,000) to a landlord investor; a 3 bed dormer bungalow in Station Road, North Wingfield which made £122,800 off a Guide of £70,000 and was sold for refurbishment; and after enthusiastic bidding a stylish modern home 4 Westfield Avenue, Somersall was hammered down at £147,000 to an owner occupier. Elsewhere a Clowne building plot made over double its Guide (£20,300 on a Guide of £10,000), and terrace houses in Brand Lane (Stanton Hill), St Helens Street (Chesterfield) and Market Street (Clay Cross) sold well too. One unusual lot, a substantial detached stone built detached house with ground floor flat and potential for a loft conversion in Langwith made £159,500 from a Guide of £135,000.
“This first Auction House sale in Chesterfield delivered a packed auction room, keen bidding and a huge success,” said Auctioneer David Tate “We are already listing for our next two sales on 4th June and 16th July and would be pleased to hear from owners in a hurry to sell, and those with investment stock, properties for improvement, land, commercial property or probates. Auctions is becoming an increasingly popular method of sale and this result further demonstrates the benefits of speed and success that it offers. Auction House Copeland is the only specialist auctioneer in the Chesterfield and North Derbyshire area, and we now operate as part of UK’s largest auction group. We are delighted to have got off to a flying start under our new flag and twin centre auction catalogue.”
South Yorkshire Press Release
Huge Success for Auction House
A Barlow Building Plot and a Dronfield Bungalow requiring refurbishment both soared to more than £50,000 over their guide price at last week’s Auction House sale at Copthorne Hotel in Sheffield city centre. David Tate of Copelands wielded the Gavel to great effect with 6 lots sold in the room from the 8 offered, an impressive 75% result. Highlights were a building plot at 3 Brookvale Close guided at £70,000 which achieved £121,000 after enthusiastic bidding. Purchased for self-build and owner occupation, the plot with full planning permission demonstrated both the demand for building plots and the value of the auction sale process. The final lot of the night, a 2/3 bedroom bungalow for refurbishment at 30 Summerfield Road offered on behalf of executors, also saw spirited bidding with the hammer finally coming down at £170,500 on a guide of £120,000. The sale included a diverse mix with a vacant commercial unit, Sheffield Motor Factors on Henry Street in Sheffield making £120,000, plus terraced houses on City Road in Sheffield, and Ellis Street and Trentham Close in Rotherham achieving strong sale prices too.
“This first Auction House sale in Sheffield under new management was a major success,” said Auctioneer David Tate “We are already listing for our next two sales on 4th June and 16th July and would be pleased to hear from owners in a hurry to sell, and those with investment stock, properties for improvement, land, commercial property or probates. Auctions is becoming an increasingly popular method of sale and this result further demonstrates the benefits of speed and success that it offers.”
